Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has announced a major initiative to improve security along the US-Mexico border, and IT is going to get a boost.

In a press conference last week, Secretary Napolitano said the department will deploy new technology to support biometric identification, among other things.

Overall, the plan will cost about $184 million.
