  • Four trillion dollars is an awful lot of money, but according to a BGOV Study, it’s well short of the amount needed to put the nations fiscal house in order. Bloomberg Government’s Director of Research Robert Litan and Lead Analyst Tony Costello will discuss the implications of federal deficit reduction.
  • FERC Order 1000 is a landmark ruling that changes the planning and payment process for new electric transmission lines. It will also open the door for independent developers to compete with traditional utilities. Energy analyst Rich Heidorn, Jr. explains how your power monopolies will likely remain in the black through the process.

Allen Scott (moderator) specializes in customer on boarding and training at Bloomberg Government. Allen previously worked at Arbitron, Inc. where he served in a variety of roles from customer service to sales operations manager. Prior to Arbitron, Allen worked in radio for several years in the Washington and Baltimore areas. Most recently he spent six years at 99.1 HFS as co-host and news director.
Robert Litan is director of research at Bloomberg Government. He was previously vice president for research and policy at the Kauffman Foundation and a senior fellow in economic studies at the Brookings Institution, where his research included topics in regulation, financial institutions, telecommunications, entrepreneurship and general economic policy. Between 1993 and 1996 he served as Deputy Assistant Attorney General in charge of civil antitrust litigation at the Department of Justice and then as associate director of the Office of Management and Budget.
Tony Costello is Bloomberg Government’s lead analyst. He spent four years as a buyside investment analyst covering energy at Osprey Partners and Mooring Financial. In these positions, Costello evaluated energy-related securities and made recommendations to portfolio managers. His undergraduate degree is in finance from George Washington University and he holds an MBA from The Darden School at the University of Virginia.
Rich Heidorn Jr. is a Bloomberg Government energy analyst. He has been writing about energy and government for more than 25 years. He worked for The Philadelphia Inquirer, where he won awards for investigative and business reporting. After earning an MBA, he served as general manager of an Internet startup serving electric and natural gas traders. He also worked as an investigator and analyst for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
