December 8, 2010 — Open Season 2010 is quickly coming to a close. December 13 is the last day for feds to make changes to their health care plans.
David Snell from the National Active & Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) group joined Mike Causey to talk about the best health plan deals for feds and retirees.
Where to get open season information
Federal employees can get health plan brochures from their human resource departments, Snell said.
The Checkbook Guide to Health Plans for Federal Employees also provides side-by-side comparisons of federal health plans.
For retirees, the Office of Personnel Management serves as the “personnel and payroll office,” Snell said. However, the mailer looked different from what was sent in the past and some retirees may have missed it, he said.
This year retirees also received an open season notice by mail and an email, if OPM had their email address.
Retirees who missed the mailer and email can still request information by calling the Open Season Express Line (toll-free) at 800-332-9798. They can also find information at retireefehb.opm.gov.
