The military is accepting openly gay recruits for the first time in the nation’s history. A federal judge has denied the government’s request to delay her order that DOD stop enforcing its ban on gays serving openly. The Pentagon says it will appeal the judge’s order. But to comply in the meantime, it has directed all military branches to stop enforcing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”. The Obama administration opposes that policy, but has been advocating for a repeal by Congress instead of the courts.
