The Army will use an open source version of Veterans Affairs electronic health records system. The Joint Theater Support Contracting Command wants to install the software at a 50-bed hospital in Baghdad. NextGov reports, the move runs counter to resistance in the Defense Department to using the VA system. But the hospital in question is operated by the Iraqi Ministry of Defense. In its solicitation for a contractor to install the records system, the Army called for a free version called World-Vista.
