Basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas now includes cyber security. In fact, there are two training segments on the topic. They cover being a good cyber wingman and taking care of the network. Plus, the Air Force Academy now offers a cyber security major. Major General Michael Basla tells DOD bloggers in a live roundtable, the courses and training involve hands-on lab work. Red and blue teams conduct mock cyber attack and defense scenarios. Basla says the Air Force is hiring 220 new people for its cyber ranks. And the Air Force itself plans to graduate 50 cyber security specialists every year.
