Female vets frustrated with VA health care

Female veterans still face significant frustration getting medical care, even in Veterans Affairs facilities with female-specific services.

Women in the armed services are still frustrated by lack of access to health care through Veterans Affairs. Even facilities that offer female-specific services aren’t meeting their needs. Stars and Stripes reports a new survey by the American Legion finds that one in four woman veterans calls the availablity of gender-specific health care poor within the VA system. More than half say that sexual trauma services are inadequate. The Legion’s report surveyed more than 3,000 female veterans. VA officials say they’re working to address veterans issues for women, but that more work needs to be done.
