Fort Belvoir chosen for Army museum

Virginia has been chosen as the home of the National Museum of the U.S. Army.

Ft. Belvoir will be the home of the new National Museum of the U.S. Army. It is scheduled to open it’s doors in June of 2015. Army made the announcement this week to coincide with the Army’s 236th birthday. The construction will be funded privately through the Army Historical Foundation. It is expected to have a multi-story, main museum building with exhibit halls, theater, Veterans’ Hall, food service and retail areas. The Army is currently the only military branch without a centralized museum.
