The Army is unveiling eight new sizes of body armor for women.

The Generation 3 IOTV — or improved outer tactical vest — was redesigned to provide a better fit for the female body. That includes a smaller shoulder cut, more room in the chest and a narrower waist.

A recent Army report found that while poor fit of body armor didn’t pose a safety risk to female warriors. It did, however, cause chafing, cut off circulation and decreased mobility. A limited number of the new vests will be available this fall, will a full roll-out next summer.
