The Federal Drive with Tom Temin and Emily Kopp attended the 2013 Acquisition Excellence Conference in Washington, D.C. Hosted by the American Council for Technology – Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC) and the General Services Administration, the conference aims to provide a collaborative forum to discuss federal IT acquisition strategies and policy. Co-host Tom Temin interviewed Joe Jordan, administrator at the Office of Federal Procurement Policy; Mary Davie, assistant commissioner at GSA’s Office of Integrated Technology Solutions; and Rory Schultz, deputy chief information officer at USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service. The FBI is about to release a new crime-solving tool that could be as big of a breakthrough as DNA analysis. The bureau is adding palm prints to its database of biometric identification. Dave Cuthbertson, asistant director of the Criminal Justice Information Services Division, says it will help police solve more crimes.
