The IRS has been systematically underpaying whistleblowers responsible for tens of millions of dollars from tax cheats. It’s happening because of what might be a mistaken calculation. Now the Government Accountability Office has looked into this situation. Jay McTigue, director of tax issues on GAO’s strategic issues team, joined Federal Drive with Tom Temin with the agency’s results.
