“Many opportunities are possible because of what strangers do” LaVerne H. Council, assistant secretary for information and technology and chief information officer at the Veterans Affairs Department, told Women of Washington. “Be that stranger.”

Council encouraged listeners to get involved with charities like the March of Dimes.  She shared her inspirational story about growing up as a Hoosier to becoming the first global CIO at a fortune 100 company  and then going on to Washington, D.C., as the CIO of VA.
