• On March 23, 2010, President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act. The law puts in place comprehensive health insurance reforms that will roll out over four years and beyond. The doors to the exchanges opened October 1st with much fanfare as well over a million people hit the site prior to 7AM. Unfortunately the system was bogged down giving the Republican party an opportunity to shout that they knew it would never work. The President considered the issue nothing more than growing pains saying that the volume, “gives you a sense of how important this is to millions of Americans.”

Allen Scott (moderator) specializes in customer on boarding and training at Bloomberg Government. Matt Barry is a health analyst for Bloomberg Government focusing on Medicare, Medicaid, public health and prevention issues. Barry has more than 20 years of health policy experience in the executive and legislative branches of the federal government, non-profits, private consulting and public affairs firms. He has worked on payment and access issues under Medicare and Medicaid, tobacco control policy, rural health care, and childhood immunization policy.
