New number two in Air Force secretariat
Defense Secretary Ash Carter has tapped the Air Force\'s Eric Fanning to be his chief of staff, creating some movement in Air Force leadership.

peaking of the Air Force, and Carter, the new Defense secretary is still busy building his staff. (We in the press corps are still waiting to hear who will become the new press secretary after Rear Adm. John Kirby was ousted).
But for his chief of staff, he picked Eric Fanning, who had served as the Air Force undersecretary and also filled in as the acting secretary of the Air Force while that position was vacant. To fill Fanning’s old job, the White House named Lisa Disbrow as the acting Air Force undersecretary this week, effective immediately.
From last July until this week, Disbrow served as the Air Force’s comptroller, making her the second official in three years to pivot directly from the position of assistant secretary for financial management to acting undersecretary (Jamie Morin, who’s now DoD’s director for cost assessment and program evaluation was the last).
Before the financial management job, Disbrow served a full career in the Air Force and retired as a Colonel. In the Senior Executive Service, she worked for the Joint Staff as vice director for force structure, resources and assessment.
