Post-war budget cuts and Michael Froman

This week's guests on BGov's Capital Impact show include Robert Levinson and Sanford Reback.

Topics on this week’s Capital Impact show include:

  • The Pentagon is losing its fight against post-war budget reductions and has begun revising its strategy to identify a force structure consistent with lower budgets. The U.S. military will likely reduce major combat operations while sustaining an the ability to act quickly on intelligence. There are, however, programs that will be protected from the cuts. Senior Defense Analyst Robert Levinson joins the program to line up the winners and losers by charting military priorities.
  • Six months after being sworn into office for his second term, the President has now nominated Michael Froman to be the United States Trade Representative. The hearing set to confirm Mr. Froman is more of an opportunity for Congress to determine what the administration has on deck for trade negotiations. To that end, Bloomberg Government’s Director of Global Business Sanford Reback has written, Five Questions for U.S. Trade Nominee Froman. We discuss each one on this week’s program.
