Air Force civilians may no longer have to wait in line when they decide it’s time to retire.
The service created a new link in May to make it easier for civilian workers to request retirement related benefits online.
The Air Force launched the HR Link module in May under the myPers website. Through that portal, civilian workers can prepare for retirement, request a retirement estimate and acquire the necessary paperwork to pay a military or civilian deposit.
“HR Link provides a means for civilians to submit a request for a retirement estimate as well as military and civilian deposit request,” said Sharon Mack, an Air Force human resource specialist, in a press release. “The module asks a series of questions to help civilians submit their requests. After a request is submitted, they will be able to monitor the status of their requests through the myPers website.”
This new feature is displayed in the Employee Benefits Information System Web application.
Air Force recently unveiled the new name and address for the myPers site.
“The site provides our total force customers a single entry point into Air Force personnel services,” said Debra Warner, the Air Force’s Personnel Service Delivery Transformation chief, in a release. “The myPers concept rapidly implements reliable, integrated and secure information technology to improve personnel services accessibility and usability.”
Officials say the updated portal will help create a one-stop shop for online personnel services.
The Air Force is making these changes because the service expects a continuing round of buyouts and early retirements in 2012.
