March 1, 2013 — This week on “Fed Access”, Leah Kane, deputy project director for Reentry at the Council of State Government’s Justice Center, joins host Derrick Dortch to talk about the National Reentry Resource Center, and the services it provides to former prisoners once they leave the prison system.

The organization works with local and state governments to help former inmates find jobs, housing, and mental health services, when they transition from incarceration back into the community.

Kane also talks about the challenges that former prisoners face when looking for work, and what can be done to reduce the recidivism rates
