April 5, 2011 — Fifteen million iPads were sold last year. In the last quarter of 2010, more smart phones were sold than personal computers. This wave of technology is causing federal IT professionals to look at all options to try to manage all these new devices. What should be the policy for your agency?

Traditionally, a firewall company like Juniper Systems would assist with bringing remote devices into the network. Today, we have much more to worry about. Should you allow one kind of mobile operating system into your network or many? What about apps? Recent studies show that 25 percent of Android apps have malware associated with them. Should you allow apps to run or not? Which ones?

Most listeners are familiar with Juniper Systems in the area of security and tunneling. It has grown a lot in the past five years and now has a wider range of capabilities.

One new aspect of its offerings is in the area of mobile security.
