May 17, 2011 — Vivek Kundra is promoting the value of open source code these days, but the varying types of open source software can get confusing.
CodeSherpas, Inc. founding partner David Bock joins host John Gilroy to talk about Java, Ruby, and other frameworks for web development.
They will discuss concepts and terminology that will give you a better grasp of some of the more arcane areas of open source.
Bock is well known in the Java community. He is president of the Northern Virginia Java Users’ Group, and is an online editor for the OnJava website.
Bock has an unusual ability to describe Java as both an application description language and as web framework.
During the interview, David compares Java with a programming language called Ruby. A new fusion of both, called JRuby, was released in April.
