Federal News Radio experts answer your questions on phased retirement.
Federal News Radio experts answered your questions about the new final rule on phased retirement during an online chat today. Phased retirement is a new option which allows eligible employees to work part-time while drawing on part of their earned retirement benefits. Phased retirees must also spend at least 20 percent of their time mentoring other employees.
Tammy Flanagan, senior benefits director at the National Institute of Transition Planning, joined Federal News Radio Senior Correspondent Mike Causey and Web Editor Shefali Kapadia to answer your biggest questions about the new retirement option being offered to federal employees.
During the chat, we received many questions and were not able to answer them all during the allotted time frame. However, we’ve now gone back to our experts to get those answers. Read them in our Phased Retirement Q&A, a comprehensive resource for federal employees looking to take advantage of the new program.
Tammy also joined Mike on his Your Turn radio show for an hour-long discussion on phased retirement. Listen to that show here.
