Google stung by privacy breaches

Google, stung by reports of privacy breaches, has taken steps to keep them from happening again. Information Week reports Google has appointed a privacy director who will report to its senior vice president of engineering. The company will require all employees to participate in a security and privacy awareness program. Plus, Google will require engineering managers to maintain privacy design documents for their projects. Last week Google was found to have gathered private wi-fi information and e-mail during drive-by image gathering for Street View. The company already has a global director of privacy, Peter Fleischer.
