Michelle Howard joins Women of Washington hosts Aileen Black and Gigi Schumm to share her amazing and inspiring personal journey from being refused service at a restaurant in the 1970s because of the color of her skin to being the first admiral selected from her Naval Academy class to being the first woman and African-American to hold the post of Vice Chief of Naval Operations.
On July 1, 2014, Howard became the first woman to become a four-star admiral. She inspires listeners to follow the advice of her parents that hard work and perseverance will produce success. Howard’s life is a truly inspiring story about beating all odds.
