This Week on Bloomberg Government’s Capital Impact with host Allen Scott:

  • With up to $27 billion in federal incentives up for grabs for health care information technology, major improvements in electronic health records are re- shaping the medical care industry. BGOV Health Care Analyst Suzanne Allard Levingston identifies winners of electronic health records funds and potential benefits of the technology.
  • July has been a hot month for federal contractors’ mergers and acquisitions, with activity in private equity and analytics. BGOV Defense Financial Analyst Sopen Shah discusses significant recent deals and the potential opportunities for data analytics contracts across government agencies.

Loren Duggan is Bloomberg Government’s chief legislative analyst. Before joining Bloomberg, he was editor of Congressional Quarterly’s House Action Reports, providing summaries and analysis of legislation. He also contributed to CQ’s legislative tracking services during his decade with the company. Loren holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and psychology from American University.
Cameron Leuthy is a budget and congressional analyst for Bloomberg Government. Cameron has worked at the White House Office of Management and Budget, the Defense Department, and in the private sector at Booz Allen Hamilton. His expertise includes the budget process and the nexus of national security policy, operational requirements and funding. He has a bachelor’s degree from Western Washington University and an MPA from the University of Washington.
Suzanne Allard Levingston is a health care analyst for Bloomberg Government. She previously covered medicine and science for “The MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour” in New York. She has written articles and researched books and documentaries, including projects for NOVA, MacNeil/Lehrer Productions, the History Channel, Discovery Education and Time Inc. She earned her BA with honors in English from Brown University and an MA in journalism from Stanford University.
Allen Scott (moderator) specializes in customer on boarding and training at Bloomberg Government. Allen previously worked at Arbitron, Inc. where he served in a variety of roles from customer service to sales operations manager. Prior to Arbitron, Allen worked in radio for several years in the Washington and Baltimore areas. Most recently he spent six years at 99.1 HFS as co-host and news director.
Sopen Shah is a financial analyst with a focus on the defense industry. Prior to joining Bloomberg Government, she was a management consultant at McKinsey & Company. In this position, she focused on corporate strategy in the public and private sectors. She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University with a degree in philosophy and political science.
