Congress made the cuts, not the President

On this week's Capital Impact show, Bloomberg Government analysts discuss cuts made by Congress to the defense budget, and the winners and losers in this budget...

This week on BGOV’s Capital Impact show hosted by Allen Scott:

  • Congress bolstered more than 100 military acquisition programs by providing more money than the president requested, despite a broad $30 billion cut to the Pentagon’s nonwar budget. Although the numbers are smaller than defense contractors would like, they provide a degree of certainty to Pentagon spending that has been missing since the passage of the Budget Control Act in 2011. Senior Defense Analysts Dr. Kevin Brancato and Rob Levinson discuss how and why Congress made these decisions and show us clear cut winners and losers.
