February 27, 2014 — Bloomberg Government convened policymakers, members of Congress, military and defense industry leaders for its first annual Washington Defense Summit, for a comprehensive discussion of budget priorities, procurement strategy, and the technologies transforming the warfighter and the defense industry. On this weeks edition of Capital Impact we’re joined by Admiral James Winnefeld Jr., Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff as he’s interviewed by Bloomberg Television’s Peter Cook about Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel’s inaugural budget.

Admiral James Winnefeld serves as the ninth Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. In this capacity, he is a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the nation’s second highest-ranking military officer. Winnefeld also served as commander, United States 6th Fleet; commander NATO Allied Joint Command, Lisbon; and, commander, Striking and Support Forces NATO. He most recently served as the commander of North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM).
