Amtower and guest Deidre Lee discuss the state of federal acquisition. Ms Lee, a 30 year veteran of public service in various senior acquisition roles (including the top procurement positions at NASA, FEMA and DOD, and a two year stint as the Administrator of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy at OMB), discusses the various issues facing the acquisition workforce from the Report of the National Performance Review (1993) forward. She argues for a stronger OFPP, more training for current and future acquisition professionals, and better oversight mechanisms. Ms Lee, winner of numerous awards over her thirty year career inside government, arguably has more acquisition experience at the highest levels than most. In a candid interview with Amtower, Ms Lee shares more than she could as a federal employee.
