While a deficit deal is in the works, has anyone considered the impact this may have on Medicare & Medicaid? Not to mention the exposure to health providers. Enter Health Care Analyst Matt Barry. In part one of a two part series Matt tackles the “Exposure of Hospitals and Health Plans to a Medicare and Medicaid Deficit Deal”.
The Securities Exchange Commission was considering a proposal to require a buffer for money market funds, but the proposal is now on hold. Senior Economic Analyst Dr. Christopher Payne joins us to explain why a capital buffer for Money Market Funds is NOT as costly as predicted.
Congress just left for seven weeks, but thoughts are already turning to the lame-duck session that starts after the election. What can Congress get done before the end of the year? Our lead congressional analyst, Loren Duggan, joins us to discuss some of the best candidates for legislative action on the Hill.

He has worked on payment and access issues under Medicare and Medicaid, tobacco control policy, rural health care, and childhood immunization policy.

Christopher Payne is an economic analyst with Bloomberg Government. Payne worked as a CPA at PricewaterhouseCoopers and was a vice president at JPMorgan Securities covering Asian emerging markets. Before joining Bloomberg, he worked as a research fellow at Duke University. Payne earned his master’s and Ph.D. at the London School of Economics, and has a B.A. from Cambridge University.

Loren Duggan is Bloomberg Government’s chief legislative analyst. Before joining Bloomberg, he was editor of Congressional Quarterly’s House Action Reports, providing summaries and analysis of legislation. He also contributed to CQ’s legislative tracking services during his decade with the company. Loren holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and psychology from American University.
