The Leukemia Ball is Saturday, March 21, 2020, at the Marriott Marquis, Washington DC. The event raises money for life-saving cancer research and patient programs funded by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). The 2020 Leukemia Ball theme will be Visionary, as LLS sets our sights on finding a cure.
Guests at the 2020 gala will enjoy entertainment from Emmy Award winning writer and comedian John Mulaney. Mulaney’s success as a writer on Saturday Night Live resulted in his first Emmy, and his Netflix special ‘Kid Gorgeous’ won him a second in 2018. From hosting Saturday Night Live to additional Netflix specials to lending his voice to films like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Mulaney has received praise from comedians across generations.
The crowd will also dance the night away to the sounds of The Legwarmers, DC’s Ultimate 80’s Tribute Band. From the Simmons electronic drum kit to the checkered vans and skinny ties, the Legwarmers are the eighties everyone remembers and wants to relive.
After 33 years, this visionary Leukemia Ball will also feature a special performance by world renowned violinist, Damien Escobar. This Billboards chart topping artist’s career has spanned over a decade and has placed him among the top violinists in the world.
The Leukemia Ball also features an unparalleled silent auction and Mercedes-Benz drawing. To learn more about the Mercedes-Benz drawing, please visit: www.leukemiaball.org/drawing. The silent auction is one of the area’s largest, featuring a variety of travel packages courtesy of hotel partners and the Official Airline of the Leukemia Ball, American Airlines.
The 2020 Leukemia Ball is co-chaired by Kimberly Russo, CEO of The George Washington University Hospital, and Tamika Tremaglio, Greater Washington Managing Principal for Deloitte LLP.
The goal for the 2020 Leukemia Ball is to raise $3.5 million for this very important cause, which is made possible by generous sponsors and supporters. LLS is especially grateful to Dinner Sponsor, Deloitte LLP; Mission Sponsor, The George Washington University Hospital; Chairmen’s Reception Sponsor, PhRMA, and longtime Partner in Hope, LIUNA.
