On your average American farm, you won’t see mother stepping through the henhouse gathering eggs into her outstretched apron. For a real picture of U.S. agriculture, you’d have to check out the United States Department of Agriculture’s five-year Census of Agriculture. The data for 2017 is now out. To explain what gathering it entails, the chief of USDA’s Census Planning Branch, Donald Buysse, joined Federal Drive with Tom Temin.
