Federal contracting officers don't bargain hard enough, and aren't getting the best deals for the government. That's according to a new report from the Government Accountability Office. And government buyers often don't seen enough competitive bids for products or services, even though it's generally required by law and regulation. This coming Saturday marks the first major deadline for agencies to begin to implement the Federal Information Technology Acquisition Reform Act, or FITARA. They’ll need to send the Office of Management and Budget detailed plans for how they intend to boost the authority and accountability of their chief information officers.
