Ellen Herbst is the chief financial officer and assistant secretary for administration at the Commerce Department. She's also one of the newly elected NAPA fellows. Herbst joined Emily Kopp on the Federal Drive to explain how she can contribute to the academy's work.

Two laws underpin the myriad of veterans preference regulations. Sharon Roth, a senior research analyst at the Merit Systems Protection Board, was the project manager of the report. Agency officials say security policies are important but so is employee training. The Fort Meade Alliance surveyed government IT professionals and found more than 60 percent agreed cyber training should be a top priority.
