  • A new Defense Department report finds solar-power development on military bases and installations in the Western United States could generate as much solar energy as seven nuclear power plants. By working with private industry and renting out unused land on bases to serve as energy testbeds, the department could reap as much as $100 in revenue and reduced energy costs and rent payments.
