A record number of federal workers spent the holiday on the job last year because of the September 11 attacks. This year, that number is probably even higher with many parts of the government on what amounts to war footing.

The Pentagon, CIA, FBI and other operations are what most people think of when they think of working on a holiday. But the majority of feds that are also working are in other agencies. Places like Virginia hospitals, the Forest Service, federal security and firefighters, and also outfits like the Coast Guard, Customs, DEA and the new TSA where a 9-to-5, Monday-through-Friday with holidays off schedule is something people dream about.

If you have a minute, why not drop us a line (short is good) telling us what you did, where you did it and—if you like—your name and agency.

If we don’t hear from anybody we’ll assume you were all too busy. It can’t be that we don’t have any readers today, can it? Send them to: mcausey@federalnewsradio.com

And Merry Christmas.
