  • A new Defense Department inspector general’s report found the department has no way of determining if it is actually saving money by migrating to the cloud. The report also found that DoD may not be able to effectively identify cloud computing security risks. The problems stem from DoD’s failure to establish an integrated repository of detailed information used to identify cloud computing service contracts. DoD also did not create a standard definition as to what cloud computing actually entails. (Federal News Radio)
  • The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee said his committee is looking into a report the U.S. spied on the Israeli prime minister and in the process swept up communications with Congress. Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) asked the director of National Intelligence and the head of the National Security Agency to come to Capitol Hill next week to brief lawmakers on the matter. He said his goal would be to “get the facts” about the situation. (Associated Press)
  • The Army is looking for volunteers for a study in which participants will eat nothing but Meals Ready-to-Eat (MREs) for three weeks straight. Army Times reports the study, run by the Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine’s military nutrition division, is to hopefully discover how new knowledge of the digestive process could improve future MREs. It will be conducted at the institute’s location in Natick, Massachusetts. (Army Times)
