Exclusive CIO survey: Federal CIOs see silver lining in OPM data breach

Results from Federal News Radio's exclusive CIO survery.

Federal News Radio conducted an anonymous online survey of federal CIOs, deputy CIOs and senior IT managers for two weeks in September. Of those who responded, 42 percent were from cabinet agencies, 21 percent from large agencies and 36 percent were from small agencies. Additionally, 85 percent were career employees while 15 percent were political appointees.

This was the fourth annual survey of federal CIOs, and cybersecurity continues to be the top priority for these senior IT managers. In this exclusive survey of federal chief information officers, deputy CIOs and other senior IT managers, every respondent said their agency’s executives are paying more attention to cyber issues than ever before.
