DISA hires Qwest for IP services under Networx
The Defense Information Systems Agency awarded one of the remaining big deals under the Networx telecommunications contract to Qwest.

The Defense Information Systems Agency awarded one of the remaining big deals under the Networx telecommunications contract to Qwest.
Under the $100 million contract, Qwest will provide Internet protocol services for the entire Defense Department.
Advanced IP services include a network to handle high volume email and application hosting, e-commerce applications and multimedia streaming.
Qwest spokesman Tom McMahon said Qwest also will provide additional services, such as security, international connectivity, integrated customer premises equipment, integrated management services, which is a Web-based management and reporting portal.
“Qwest is a longtime communications partner of the DoD,” said Diana Gowen, senior vice president and general manager of Qwest Government Services in a release. “We are pleased that through this task order Qwest will continue its relationship with DoD to provide advanced data services, which are crucial components of our nation’s defense systems.”
DoD also hired Verizon under the Networx contract to provide voice and data services under two separate deals that could be worth $1.1 billion.
