GISLA: The best and the brightest

Recognizing excellence in government IT security

ISC2, the global organization that certifies information security professionals, has recognized the best and the brightest in government IT security and information assurance with the fifth annual Government Information Security Leadership Awards (GISLA).

Awarded in ceremonies at the Marriott Crystal Gateway Hotel in Arlington, Va., GISLA is designed to raise awareness of IT security officers who help safeguard the government’s IT infrastructure.

The winners (left to right, in a photo taken following the ceremony):

    Senior non-IT Security Manager: Michael Williams, Executive Director/CIO, Defense Contract Management Agency.

    Senior IT Security Manager: Adair Martinez, Deputy Assistant Secretary, Department of Veterans Affairs.

    Non-managerial IT Security Professional: Pam Rusk, Information Systems Security Manager, Federal Aviation Administration.

    Federal Contractor IT Security Professional: Steve Busch, Senior Managing Consultant, IBM Business Consulting Services.

The contractor award is the newest GISLA category added this year to recognize the work of contractors who support federal IT security professionals.
