It\'s a three day idea-fest where individuals and companies pitch potential plans for treating PTSD. Geoff Orazem is the founder and CEO of Eastern Foundry, which started this innovation competition.   • The Human Exploitation Rescue Operative (HERO) Corps welcomes 22 new members to its ranks later this morning. Launched as a pilot program in 2013, the HERO Corps gives wounded, injured and ill veterans the chance to assist federal agents in the fight against child predators. Peter Edge is the executive director of Homeland Security Investigations at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which helps manage the HERO Corps. He joined Tom Temin on the Federal Drive with an update on the program.

  • Customs and Border Protectionhad an unexpected humanitarian crisis on its hands last summer. Tens of thousands of South American children crossed the Southwest Border. Shelters got full too quickly and it took CBP 45 to 60 days to reunite children with their families. Kevin Hannes is a federal coordinating officer at the Federal Emergency Management Agency in Denton, Texas. His team set up an emergency operations center, streamlined the process for tracking cases and worked with several different agencies to hand out food and clothing. By the end of the crisis the reunion process took 10 days. Hannes is a finalist for a Service to America medal in the management excellence category. He tells In Depth with Francis Rose what happened at the border stations last summer, and why it was taking so long to get kids reunited with their families.

  • The IRS would face its smallest budget since 2004 under a plan approved by the House Appropriations Committee yesterday. Members also endorsed steep cuts in federal construction and repairs proposed by the General Services Administration. In all, the committee approved $20.2 billion for financial services and general government funding in 2016. That\'s a 6 percent reduction from 2015 — and what\'s required under sequestration. Emily Kopp joined Tom Temin on the Federal Drive with more on the cuts.
