War vet discharged for criticism of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell

Iraq war veteran Lt. Dan Choi was officially discharged from the Army National Guard on Thursday morning following his vocal criticism of the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy that keeps gay and lesbian soldiers from serving openly in the military, Slate reports. Choi said he was shocked to hear from journalists earlier this week that he had been discharged, as he wasn’t contacted by his battalion leader until Thursday.
