The Army is working on a new system called GXP Xplorer to help soldiers get maps, videos and other information on the battlefield. The system will connect to legacy repositories on multiple Army bases. It’s part of a contract with BAE Systems.
Part of Army analysts’ jobs is to look for historical data to “add contextual value” to current images, said Mark Sarojak, BAE Systems’ director of sales and marketing for GXP.
“In talking with the analysts and their leadership, it’s clear that looking for historical data is taking up to 50 percent of their time or more, which is too time-intensive, so the Army’s looking to solve that problem by adding GXP Xplorer,” Sarojak said in an interview with The Federal Drive with Tom Temin.
Instead of searching individual databases, GXP allows analysts to search all Army databases simultaneously with one query, he said.
