Air Force A-10 fleet could serve three more decades

A recent Fed Biz Opps solicitation indicates the Air Force A-10 fleet could serve until 2040, becoming among the longest-serving aircrafts.

The Air Force’s A-10 fleet has a few more years of service left after all. A solicitation on Fed Biz Opps indicates the government is considering contracts for engineering services for the A-10. The first requirement is for developing a plan to identify available A-10 Tooling that will be needed to “support and sustain the A-10 Aircraft until 2040.”

Defense Tech reports that if the Warthog stays in the fleet that long, it will rank with the B-52 Stratofortress and KC-135 Stratotanker as the aircrafts with the longest lives.
