  • The Coast Guard is becoming the first military service to begin issuing iPhone and Android smartphones to its workforce. They’ll use them to replace a previous generation of handheld devices that leaders say are quickly becoming obsolete. And iPads and other tablet computers might not be far behind. Federal News Radio’s Jared Serbu got more details on the Coast Guard’s decision from Captain David Dermanelian. He’s the Coast Guard’s chief information security office.
