  • Your Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program is getting more expensive, and the GAO thinks it’s a two-pronged problem. OPM has had trouble getting insurers interested in bidding to underwrite the Federal long-term care program, and John Hancock, the company that got the contract, says their actuarial assumptions didn’t match with the expenses they actually incurred when they took over the program.
  • The government is cracking down on keeping counterfeit products out of your agency. The Administration’s Interagency Anti-Counterfeit Working Group will work on strengthening efforts to keep fake products out of agency supply chains. The Office of Management and Budget is asking for public comments about what the Group should focus on.
  • The Department of Energy violated a whistleblower’s due process rights by suspending him for 13 months, according to the Office of Special Counsel. Patrick was suspended twice when his managers revoked his certification to work with nuclear materials at the agency’s Oak Ridge, Tennessee facility. DOE says they’ll change their internal policies and regulations in response to the OSC’s findings.
