Defense Department analyst being tried in case involving biggest leak of U.S. secrets.
Lawyers are working on a new defense for the Army intelligence analyst blamed for the biggest leak of U.S. secrets in the nation’s history, the Associated Press reports.
Pvt. Bradley Manning is accused of funneling classified information to the Wikileaks site. His lawyer are going for a three pronged defense. They argue the young private should never have had access to classified material to begin with. Also that his workplace security was inexplicably lax, and the data in question caused little damage to national security anyhow.
A preliminary hearing enters its fifth day today at an Army installation outside Washington.
