The Defense Department cut the time it takes on average to complete a personnel security clearance to less than 50 days.

DoD’s progress in reducing the wait for security clearance is one reason it no longer is on the Government Accountability Office’s bi-annual high-risk list.

Lawmakers are pointing to the progress Defense made as an example of how they will conduct oversight in the future of these 30 high risk areas.
