Samsung cleared of spyware concerns

Security researchers say Samsung computers do not come equipped with spyware.

You can rest easy, if you use or plan to buy a new laptop. Security researchers say Samsung computers do not come equipped with spyware.

The rumor started when an IT consultant bought a couple of new machines from Samsung’s R-series. He says he found a program that can capture all keystrokes and screenshots, PC World reports.

But the problem appears to stem from a mis-firing antivirus program called VIPRE. Software maker GFI says the program mistakenly flags a Windows folder for the Slovenian language. They’ve apologized and issued a fix.
