  • The Census Bureau is closing six of the agency’s 12 Regional Offices. The agency is expected to cut up to 130 positions.The Bureau says the reason for the reductions is so they can reduce costs by up to $18 million by 2014.
  • The Army has paid $23 million for spare helicopter parts from Boeing that were only worth $10 million. A leaked Defense Department inspector general’s report says Boeing also charged the Army $1,600 for a plastic roller available from internal Pentagon supplies for just $7. GovExec reports, Boeing blames rapidly changing requirements during a time of war for the fluctuation in prices.
  • The Navy has given Boeing a $195 million contract. The contract is to make one C-17 aircraft. The Navy will sell the aircraft to the Australian government.
