Another year added to the federal employee pay freeze is part of the $9 trillion deficit-reduction plan Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) is now pushing. GovExec reports the proposal would freeze locality pay for five years. Meanwhile, Coburn has rejoined the Gang of Six, a group of senators developing a compromise debt ceiling solution.
The Federal Aviation Administration could shut down if the House and the Senate don’t agree on union organization for airline workers. The agency has had 20 short-term extensions since September 2007. FAA’s current operating authority runs out Friday.
