  • The Education Department is offering buyouts and early retirements in 12 different program offices. The department’s chief human capital officer, Robert Buggs, says the buyouts and early retirements will start in September and go through January 3. Gov Exec is reporting the offers are Voluntary Separation Incentive Payments, that will pay employees up to $25,000.
  • The Postal Service says it is out of cash and will default on payments to the government next month without Congressional intervention. USPS is reporting $3.1 billion in losses in the third quarter. So far this YEAR, the Postal Service has lost $5.7 billion.
  • General Services Administration employees can still park for free at D.C.-area offices. Union objections have forced GSA to delay plans to make employees pay for parking starting last Monday. The Federal Times is reporting, the National Federal of Federal Employees has disputed the parking charges.
