DOD’s Annual Energy Management Report finds that in addition to the hefty $4 billion price-tag, the money DoD spends to operate its buildings has a huge environmental impact.

In fact, 40 percent of the Department’s total greenhouse gas emissions comes from building operations.

The DoD accounts for roughly 80 percent of the energy consumption in the federal government.
